On February 13, the Council held its first interactive, health care town hall meeting with more than 300 South Florida residents at the University of Miami. Community members, students, and experts discussed the challenges, problems, and trade-offs with the American healthcare system and identified the key health care priorities for the upcoming presidential election. The conversations were underpinned by a Gallup poll of 401 residents taken in late January. The poll and the lively town hall confirmed concerns about rising healthcare costs, prescription-drug coverage, and quality of care.
